Entrepreneurs make their pitch

0409-pitch1Ten local entrepreneurs made their “pitch” for support at the Hotel Tasmania last night – watched by an energetic audience of business people, supporters and investors. I enjoyed it and the whole exercise was a great reminder of the depth of talent in our city, our traditional self-reliance and famous initiative to get things done using new ideas.
The event is known as the “Pitch Club”. Darren Alexander, founder of the internationally successfully Launceston software company Autech (and famous as an ideas-guy himself) was our host and responsible for securing the event for Launceston.

Ten entrepreneurs had just 90 seconds (!) each to spruik their business or business idea and it was great to see the variety of initiatives. They ranged from Occupational Health and Safety systems, to online accountancy, movie productions and peer-to-peer e-commerce.

The ten were narrowed to three “pitchers” by an audience vote and the eventual winner was Sara Redman with her online coaching business LightenUp.

If you’re interested in testing your new business concept in front of a robust but good-natured audience that includes some of our best business minds, then check the Pitch Club website for the next event.
