Smarter Health Care for the North

What the Tasmanian Liberals will do:

The Liberals’ Smarter Health Care package will enable people of Northern Tasmania to better access health care from the hospital to the home when they need it, by taking the pressure off the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and freeing up hospital beds to allow Tasmanians to get their surgery on time.

Let’s reclaim our great city

There’s no doubting that Launceston is a spirited and beautiful city. It’s inhabited by people of effort, enterprise, enthusiasm, creativity, sport, community and culture. Just taking a stroll around some central city blocks with eyes lifted up above the awnings tell us our stories in stone: the growth and development of a modern regional city in response to a growing and developing community.

The Liberals’ $30 million plan to fix our education system: Statement from Will Hodgman and Sue Napier

A Hodgman Liberal Government will raise education standards by overhauling Tasmania Tomorrow and investing $30 million in revitalising our high schools, focussing on results, and providing more support to our students and teachers.

Under a Hodgman Liberal Government, there will be no more experimentation with our childrens’ education.

We will overhaul Tasmania Tomorrow based on strong feedback from teachers, students, parents, industry, and the community that Labor has got it wrong.

A Plastic Shopping Bag Free Tasmania

What the Tasmanian Liberals will do:   Make Tasmania free of non-biodegradable plastic shopping bags within two years.

Coles Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast was the first town in Australia to go “plastic shopping bag free” and a Hodgman Liberal Government will move to remove non-biodegradable plastic shopping bags from across Tasmania.

Why this policy is needed
Plastic shopping bags are a common source of litter and contamination both on land and in our waterways.

Michael fires the starter’s gun for the Bus It Challenge in Bass

I can still remember working late at night several months ago when a mysterious email arrived from two young Tasmanians wanting me to commit to travelling only on public transport for 24-48 hours during the first week of February. Making a commitment to not travel around using the very convenient car.
