It is good to hear of the commitment to Flood Defence and Catchment Management. I would suggest that the Launceston Flood Authority and new proposed are Authority for Catchment issues are rolled into one body for efficiency. This would also broaden the focus of the Flood Authority to other flood prone areas which need management such as Longford, Deloraine and Branxholme etc. Since the demise of the Rivers & Water Supply Commission state wide flood plain management has been a neglected area. The new Water Corporation's common service provider (Onstream) could have fill that roll regionally as does Melbourne Water in Victoria but that opportunity was missed, lets hope that you win and that this new opportunity to address this important issue is not lost.
