The Liberal Government is totally committed to providing the health services Tasmania needs, both now and into the future. But I am appalled by what we’ve been told.

It is a scandalous indictment of the previous government’s failure to provide the direction and leadership necessary for the biggest construction project in the state’s history.

It’s also apparent that the former government were aware of the mess they had created but told Tasmanians that the project was on track.

You have to ask how could Labor and Greens allow things to get to the point where more than half the $43 million allocated for contingencies has gone before construction has even commenced.

Incompetence on such a scale beggars belief. I will be getting further advice on how to deal with these matters and reporting to Cabinet and the Commonwealth as soon as I can.
