I would like to assure Tasmanians that the Royal Hobart Hospital redevelopment remains on time and on budget. This is despite new information released under RTI laws yesterday that shows the original handover date of the temporary inpatient facility has not been met. The contract completion date for the RHH redevelopment remains the end of 2018.

The Government has always said there would be challenges with a project this size, it is up to the builder to manage the program of works to deal with these challenges.

The tender for the temporary inpatient facility including modules, was won by Fairbrother in an open tender process with a contract value of $22.8 million which includes $17.5 million for the modules.
Rectification works are at no additional cost to taxpayers and the temporary inpatient facility will not be accepted until it is up to the high standard specified in the contract.

This includes verification by an independent hygienist that the modules are safe and fit for purpose.
Labor has spent a lot of time throwing rocks at the RHH redevelopment, it is time they got behind this project which will deliver Tasmanians a state of the art health facility for generations to come.
