Improving public safety in Launceston – policy directly resulting from my work in the CBD

A Hodgman Liberal Government will improve public safety in Launceston’s centre by providing up to $100,000 for a new police and information booth in the Mall.

We will also expand police ‘move on’ powers to provide a new provision for a 24 hour ban, at the discretion of the police.

Let’s reclaim our great city

There’s no doubting that Launceston is a spirited and beautiful city. It’s inhabited by people of effort, enterprise, enthusiasm, creativity, sport, community and culture. Just taking a stroll around some central city blocks with eyes lifted up above the awnings tell us our stories in stone: the growth and development of a modern regional city in response to a growing and developing community.

Labor is taking Tasmania in the wrong direction: statement from Will Hodman

  • Government cutting funding for Lifeline, hospital jobs and maybe even the Flying Doctors
  • The Government should start by cutting waste, like spin doctors and advisers before it attacks public services
  • Government is putting itself first, rather than the interests of Tasmanians

New research: 40% of Tasmanian criminals breach suspended sentencing and most avoid prosecution.

It’s a sure sign of a lazy and out-of-touch government that allows convicted criminals to get the benefits of a suspended sentence while not bothering to prosecute them when they break the rules.
