After speaking during the debate today, I voted against the proposed legislation but attempted to improve it with an amendment. The amendment was lost and I will certainly ask the Legislative Council members to consider it during their deliberations.

While driving, I listened to the live broadcast of the caretaker Premier Bartlett breathing his pathetic attempt to argue that somehow Will Hodgman had “failed to form a government” despite Labor’s supposed best efforts to facilitate the change.

Media Release: Tasmanian Parliament should say ‘no’ to assisted suicide push
Liberal candidate for Bass Michael Ferguson today called on all members of the House of Assembly to reject the Greens’ proposed euthanasia legislation as an ill-conceived attempt to condone assisted suicide.
Mr Ferguson said this was his strong personal view and noted that the Parliamentary Liberal Party had adopted a conscience vote position on the matter.
