NAPLAN results should send warning to Minister on Education cuts

In the latest NAPLAN results Tasmanian students have gone backwards in 9 literacy and numeracy measures. This testing was done in May before the Government took a sledge hammer to the Education budget.   How can the Minister expect results to improve when schools now have even less resources?

Tasmania continues to fall behind on Literacy and Numeracy results

I am sorry to report that figures released in the latest NAPLAN report show our results have fallen behind the Australian figure for the number of students achieving at or above the national minimum standard on seven of the 20 measures – a figure Ms Thorp conveniently ignored when she announced the summary data.
