The Liberal Government has delivered record spending of $1.465 billion on health in 2014-15 as we begin rebuilding the health system.
This is an increase of 5 per cent on last year’s health funding as we work to begin fixing the mess left in health by the previous Labor-Green government.
Labor and the Greens clearly don’t support this record investment in health because they continue to oppose the savings necessary to fund them.
This morning in Budget Estimates Greens MP Cassy O’Connor incorrectly claimed health spending was higher in 2011-12. She referred to a figure of $1.844 billion, which was actually the total expenses of the Department of Health & Human Services, not the amount spent on health. The corresponding figure for this year is $2.084 billion.
The Liberal Government’s investment in $1.465 billion investment in health in 2014-15 is a record investment, well above the 2011-12 spend on health of $1.331 billion.
