The Department of Health and Human Services has appointed Neil Kirby ASM as the new chief executive of Ambulance Tasmania.

Mr Kirby will commence in the role on November 14, and joins Ambulance Tasmania with decades of international and national ambulance service management experience, including five years as the Deputy Commissioner of the Queensland Ambulance Service.

The Hodgman Government is extremely pleased to welcome Mr Kirby and looks forward to working with him.
Mr Kirby has worked the past eight years in Dubai, as both a director of ambulance operations and an ambulance operations consultant.

While in Dubai, Mr Kirby was a steering committee member for International Paramedic, an organisation which works to improve ambulance services at a global level and increase international cooperation.

His management experience and expertise in both Australia and overseas, makes him a well-credentialed person to take the reins and lead Ambulance Tasmania and its dedicated staff.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Templar, who has capably filled the role of acting chief executive in the intervening period and wish him all the best for his continuing service with Ambulance Tasmania.
