This afternoon, the THS has advised me that due to persistent demand, both emergency and admissions are exceeding capacity at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The Government is concerned that this high level of demand has persisted beyond the normal busy Christmas period.
I can confirm that the Government and the THS have been working on a significant new package of measures to address this increased demand.
I expect this to be finalised in coming weeks.
In the meantime, Tasmanians can be assured that our Patients First measures announced last year, and the highly professional staff at the RHH, are working to ensure the best possible care for patients.
