More than $500,000 in preventive health grants will flow to 26 community projects around the State to improve the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians.

The Hodgman Liberal Government’s Healthy Tasmania Community Innovations Grants of up to $25,000 each, are encouraging innovation and grassroots community action to improve the health of Tasmanians.

The projects will focus on quitting smoking, healthy eating, physical activity and community connection.

The grants will help communities develop partnerships with health providers, local government, not-for-profits and commercial enterprises and businesses.

The Hodgman Government is offering a total of $1 million in grants over three-years to communities for activities that support healthy lifestyles.

The remaining funds will be allocated to projects selected in application rounds in 2018 and 2019.

The grants are an important part of the Health Tasmania Five Year Strategic Plan, the Hodgman Government’s bold new approach to helping people enjoy better health and happier, longer lives.

By providing the information and tools to help people make healthy lifestyle changes and by working together we can make Tasmania the healthiest population in Australia by 2025.
