The Hodgman Liberal Government has launched an exciting new grant program to help more Tasmanians live healthier and longer lives.
The Healthy Tasmania Fund will provide $1.4 million in 2019-20 for community organisations to invest in the health and wellbeing of their communities. This is new funding on top of the previous community grants, which are also continuing.
These grants are part of the Government’s commitment to make Tasmania the healthiest population in Australia by 2025. We know this is a bold target and that’s why we are investing in programs like the Healthy Tasmania Fund to help achieve it.
The Fund builds on the success of the $1 million Community Innovations Grants to community organisations for preventive health projects late last year.
All of these projects are part of our Healthy Tasmania Strategic Plan.
The Healthy Tasmania Fund will help finance projects or initiatives around smoking cessation, healthy eating, physical activity, reducing obesity and the levels of overweight Tasmanians.
Grants of up to $200,000 are available for projects up to two years. Applications open on July 1, 2019.
