The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is proud to support this year’s GovHack event, aimed at identifying new ways of repurposing data to create insights and benefits for government, industry and the wider Tasmanian community.
We are heading into an increasingly digital world, and we are committed to creating more opportunities for young Tasmanians to learn and take advantage of the digital economy, ensuring a job-ready generation.
GovHack is a national competition running from the 6th to the 8th of September, where participants are given datasets and compete against each other to create new and improved ways for users to understand and provide real-world use cases for the information.
Events will be held in Launceston, Hobart and simultaneously across Australia and New Zealand, with competitors vying for range of prizes.
Last year’s event was well supported, with teams from the North and South generating six projects drawn from over 500 Tasmanian Government datasets encompassing health, schools, justice, environment and local history information from all around the state.
The Government sponsored awards for this year’s GovHack events will include the “Most Outstanding Tasmanian Benefit’, ‘Most Commercial Benefit’, ‘Best Use of Tasmanian Spatial Data’ and ‘Best Use of Tasmanian Heritage Data’.
