A majority Liberal Government will provide $200,000 to the Launceston United Soccer and Sports Club to complete the final stage of the club’s partially-completed clubrooms.

This funding will allow the club to complete the toilets, canteen, administration, store room and contribute to the new clubroom construction project.

With the management team in the future clubrooms shortly before we made the big announcement to the players and supporters. Very happy club at LUSC!

To its credit the club and Launceston City Council have fundraised approximately $480,000 to bring the project to the current stage and require a final $200,000 to complete the upgrade. Until that happens most of the new facilities cannot be used.

The grounds, owned by Launceston City Council, are also used by many visiting clubs and are home to the annual Hudson Cup preseason competition.

Both the club and the Council have acknowledged that this project is a priority given the sub-standard nature of the pre-existing toilet and change rooms.

These improvements will benefit at least 350 junior soccer players and their parents from all over Northern Tasmania.
